ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a Technical Product Manager, Mobile App Performance, to lead the evolution of Upbound’s native mobile platforms across iOS and Android. This role owns the technical health, reliability, and performance of the mobile ecosystem, governing the foundational platform layers including shared services, core UI components, navigation frameworks, data models, and platform capabilities that power every native app experience. You will define and steward a platform roadmap that strengthens authentication, improves engagement, optimizes mobile conversion flows, and supports millions of sessions, playing a central role in advancing Upbound’s mission to elevate financial opportunity for all.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the technical vision and platform strategy for Upbound’s mobile ecosystem, maintaining a deep understanding of application architecture, shared services, data flows, and cross-platform dependencies.

  • Define, evolve, and govern container level capabilities such as authentication, session management, navigation patterns, shared UI components, and cross app frameworks that enable consistency and scalability across iOS and Android.

  • Build and maintain a platform-focused roadmap that prioritizes reliability, performance, security, and scalability across sign-in, payments, personalization, and mobile-specific conversion flows.

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Architecture, Design, Analytics, and Marketing to translate business and customer needs into technically sound platform capabilities and implementation plans.

  • Own mobile schema and data model governance, ensuring clean contracts, backward compatibility, and consistent implementation across feature teams and platforms.

  • Guide technical discovery and refinement efforts, ensuring platform work entering development is well defined, feasible, and aligned with long term architectural direction.

  • Oversee mobile instrumentation, analytics, and SDK integrations to ensure accurate event tracking, experimentation readiness, and high-quality insights across all mobile surfaces.

  • Monitor platform health through performance metrics, crash reporting, experimentation results, and engagement data, proactively identifying risks, constraints, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Own deep linking, universal linking, and app to web handoff strategies to ensure seamless transitions across marketing flows, lines of business, and cross-channel conversion paths.

  • Communicate platform strategy, system health, delivery risks, and technical tradeoffs clearly to senior leaders and cross functional stakeholders.  

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong technical product management experience with 4-6 years leading mobile platforms across iOS and Android, including a deep understanding of container layer responsibilities such as shared services, navigation frameworks, and schema governance.

  • Demonstrated success improving mobile performance, reliability, and engagement through analytics-driven insights, crash monitoring, and iterative experimentation.

  • Experience partnering with engineering teams on platform-level capabilities, including authentication, payments, personalization frameworks, and cross-platform feature delivery.

  • Solid understanding of mobile software development practices and the ability to write clear, precise, and technically actionable requirements.

  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-team initiatives from concept through delivery while maintaining platform stability and quality.

  • Highly organized and proactive working style with the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, systems, and heavy environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
