Role Summary

The Scrum Master is a delivery-focused Agile leader responsible for enabling high-performing Scrum teams and ensuring disciplined execution within a scaled Agile environment. This role goes beyond ceremony facilitation and serves as a key operational partner to Product, Engineering, Data, and PMO leadership—driving transparency, accountability, and predictable delivery.

The Scrum Master ensures strong Agile practices, backlog discipline, cross-team coordination, and accurate tooling hygiene (Jira and Clarity), while maintaining a clear understanding of delivery risks, capacity constraints, and business impact.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Execution & Team Enablement

  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Coach team members on Agile best practices to improve collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote transparency, inspection, and adaptation within the team.
  • Foster a culture of agility and support broader Agile transformation initiatives.

Delivery & Operational Discipline

  • Ensure disciplined backlog management and sprint execution.
  • Maintain consistent Agile tooling hygiene across Jira and Clarity, including backlog structure, sprint alignment, work tracking accuracy, and reporting integrity.
  • Track and communicate delivery metrics such as velocity, sprint progress, predictability, and delivery health.
  • Partner with PMO and Engineering leadership to support capacity planning, demand management, and realistic forecasting.

Risk Management & Problem Solving

  • Proactively identify risks and delivery impacts early.
  • Remove impediments and escalate appropriately to protect sprint commitments.
  • Translate technical delivery challenges into clear business impact and mitigation actions for stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong situational awareness of team progress and blockers.

Backlog & Story Quality Oversight

  • Work closely with Product Owners to ensure a well-prioritized and groomed backlog.
  • Ensure user stories meet quality and readiness standards (clear acceptance criteria, proper sizing, correct backlog placement).
  • Coordinate emerging work or cross-team requests to ensure alignment with sprint and quarterly objectives.

Cross-Team & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Coordinate dependencies across teams, including Product, Engineering, Data, and external partners.
  • Support quarterly planning and roadmap alignment.
  • Ensure transparency in commitments and communicate delivery updates clearly to stakeholders.

Domain & Technical Awareness

  • Develop a strong understanding of the team’s systems, domain, and delivery objectives.
  • Demonstrate sufficient technical awareness to understand delivery constraints, feasibility risks, and impact when commitments are at risk.
  • Anticipate issues before they affect outcomes and drive timely mitigation.

Financial & Capacity Awareness

  • Support estimation practices that align work commitments with team capacity.
  • Collaborate with leadership on capacity and demand planning.
  • Maintain awareness of how delivery commitments impact financial planning and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • Strong understanding of Scrum and Agile frameworks.
  • Experience working in technical environments (engineering, data, integration-heavy systems preferred).
