DIRECTOR COMPLIANCE
(Draper Utah In-Office)
JOB PURPOSE
To provide support for the regulatory consumer compliance management system. You are responsible to maintain and enhance existing compliance pillars with emphasis on deploying expedited, nimble and risk based mitigation efforts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement comprehensive regulatory compliance risk management strategies and frameworks tailored to Upbound’s risk profile
- Monitor and analyze emerging regulatory compliance risks, industry trends, and regulatory changes to ensure proactive risk mitigation
- Support and enhance the third-party retailer oversight program
- Work with responsible business units on executing projects necessary to support the annual regulatory compliance plan
- Work with relevant stakeholders to enhance regulatory compliance training across the enterprise, including third-party retailer training.
- Expand testing and monitoring functions by identifying and developing additional risk-based testing protocols favoring an automation-first approach. Responsibilities include executing corrective action processes, including actions to strengthen preventative and detective controls.
- Manage a team responsible for providing compliance operational support to Upbound lines of business.
- Execute and enhance the annual regulatory risk assessment process.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Primary responsibilities include supporting regulatory risk management for Ubound’s lease-to-own operating units
- Demonstrated experience working cross functionally
- Sound knowledge of federal and state consumer protection laws including FCRA, TCPA, UDAP and EFTA
- Experience with state rental or lease-purchase laws is a plus
- Ability to lead and influence people to successfully execute strategies across functions and at a senior level
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex ideas to non-technical groups
- Ability to translate compliance requirements into business requirements in support of people, processes, and technology execution
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in compliance plus 3+ years managing compliance resources
- Advanced regulatory experience in fintech, legal or financial services
- Bachelors/Masters degree or equivalent experience, JD preferred
- CRCM or similar certification is preferred
